What CRS is (and what a score is not)

Canada’s Express Entry system ranks eligible profiles with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Invitation rounds use cut-offs that change. Some rounds are general; others target categories such as French-language proficiency or certain occupations. A high Entryora estimate does not create a profile, guarantee an invitation, or replace IRCC’s own calculator on canada.ca.

Use this page to see how age, education, language, work experience, and a few additional factors move points before you pay for language tests or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). Deeper context: Express Entry CRS basics, Express Entry starter guide.

How to fill the form

Accompanying spouse switches between the single and with-spouse CRS grids and unlocks spouse education, language, and Canadian work fields. Age and highest education use IRCC-style bands — pick the credential level you could support with an ECA if required. First language asks for one CLB/NCLC for all four abilities; IRCC scores each ability separately, so uneven skills will not match this estimate. Canadian and foreign skilled work count years that meet IRCC’s skilled definitions (NOC / TEER), not every job title you have held.

Additional factors include a Canadian study credential, a sibling in Canada, a provincial nomination, and French-language bonus combinations where the form asks for them. Try the sample profile link on this page to see a full breakdown table.

Job-offer points removed (25 March 2025)

IRCC removed arranged-employment (job-offer) points from Express Entry CRS scoring effective 25 March 2025. This calculator does not add those points. Ignore older blogs or videos that still advertise large CRS boosts from a job offer until you confirm the current instructions on canada.ca yourself.

Why your total may differ from IRCC’s tool

  • Uneven language scores across listening, reading, writing, and speaking
  • Education level that an ECA would map differently than the option you picked
  • Work that is not skilled under current TEER / NOC rules
  • Spouse or additional factors entered differently than on the official form

Always re-enter the same facts in IRCC’s CRS tool and trust that result for planning.

Draws, cut-offs, and timing

Invitation cut-offs change by round and by category. A score that looked competitive last month may not match the next draw you care about. Language tests, ECAs, and police certificates also expire. Document starters: Express Entry checklist. Official program overview: Express Entry on canada.ca.

If you are still choosing a pathway

CRS only matters after Express Entry-style skilled migration looks relevant for your situation. If you are still comparing countries or goals, start with Path Finder, then return here. Safe tool habits: using Entryora tools without treating them as official.
